Proposal in Laguna Beach
Jonathan & Cheyenne | A Surprise Proposal in Laguna Beach
When Jonathan told me he was interested in having me photograph his proposal in Laguna Beach, I was over the moon with excitement! I can't think of anything better than photographing the most exciting moment for two people. It's an honor I don't take lightly. I've been photographing weddings for nine years now, and every time I get to capture a proposal, my heart starts pounding inside my chest. I get so much adrenaline and I'm not even the one proposing! haha!
We had been chatting for a while about the perfect way for Jonathan to propose to Cheyenne, and here is how he chose to pop the question... They went to a casual happy hour dinner at their favorite restaurant, Three Seventy Common, like they would on any other date night. Afterward, Jonathan took an unsuspecting Cheyenne down towards the water because "his friend" (me) had told him about a really cool spot on Cress Street. As they walked down the steps to Cress Street beach, I was waiting for them and got ready for the moment. There were a handful of people on the beach watching the sunset, so she didn't even notice me watching them from a cliff above. As they watched the most epic Laguna Beach sunset, he gave me the signal I had been waiting for and kissed her on the cheek. This meant he was about to get down on one knee.
Jonathan got down on one knee and presented the most beautiful rose gold diamond ring I had ever seen. It was so perfect in every way and of course, she said YES! After several years of dating, these two are about to start their new life together and they couldn't be more excited.
After he popped the question, he pointed me out and she had NO idea I had been photographing the whole proposal! I came out of hiding and stole them away to take a few photos on the beach to capture their engagement!
The tide was high and nearly swept us away, but we embraced it. I loved that these two were down for whatever, and there were no complaints! By the end of the session, we were all soaked from the waist down (told you we almost got swept away) and I almost lost a lens. But it was so worth it. We were living in the moment and got the most amazing photos!
Now, Laguna Beach is known for its stunning sunsets, but it boasted the most epic sunset I had seen in a long time. The most perfect cotton candy sky came out to congratulate the happy couple.
Jonathan and Cheyenne, I could not be happier for you both. You're so perfect together and it's so clear how happy you make each other. I'm so honored that I was able to be a part of this moment for you and wish you so many blessings as you start to plan your wedding together!
