How to Come Up with a Wedding Hashtag
Wedding hashtags are all the rage these days and even more so when it comes to weddings! Wedding hashtags are a fun way to interact with your guests by having them post their photos using your official wedding hashtags on your wedding day and leading up to it. I am amazed at how funny and clever some of the ones I've seen are! I've put together some fun tips for how to come up with a wedding hashtag.
1. Start with the basics
Start by writing down the facts: your first and last names, wedding date, wedding venue or location, etc. These will serve as the keywords for your wedding hashtag.
2. Look for Puns
Get creative with the keywords you've just written down and come up with something clever for your hashtag! Look for rhymes, alliterations, and puns.
3. Ask for a second opinion
Ask your friends to help you! I guarantee you that they will come up with some clever options that you hadn't even thought of for your unique wedding hashtag. If you want to raise the stakes, offer a gift card as a prize to the person who comes up with your official wedding hashtag.
4. Use a Hashtag Generator
There are plenty of websites that offer hashtag generators. Just keep in mind that it may not be as creative as you are and is offering similar hashtags to everyone else using the generator.
5. Check the Hashtag
Once you have a good idea of a wedding hashtag you'd like to use, check to see if it's taken. Don't worry too much if it's been used before, but you may decide to use something else if there are hundreds of photos under that hashtag.
6. Avoid easy Mistakes
Make sure people won't easily misspell your hashtag otherwise they won't show up. Another way to help with this is to make the first letter of each word capitalized. And lastly, avoid using any inside jokes that your guests may not understand.
7. Spread the Word!
Once you've finalized your wedding hashtag, spread the word so that your guests know to use it when they post photos! Make sure to mention it on your save the dates, and on signs throughout your bridal shower, bachelorette party, wedding day, etc. Trust me, you'll be so happy when you can see everyone’s' photos in one place.
There you have it! 7 tips for how to come up with a wedding hashtag! What are the best ones you've seen before? I would LOVE to hear in the comments below!
